American Reacts To 15 biggest mistakes London tourists ALWAYS make

London is on my travel bucket list, so I watch Love and London’s “15 Biggest Mistakes London Tourists Always Make” with a future trip in mind. Jess’s video gives me plenty to think about, and several points connect with things I have learned while planning my own travels.

These are my reactions to that video and the questions it raises for me.

Grouping activities makes sense to me

When Jess talks about doing activities in the same area on the same day, I immediately relate. That is something I have learned to do over the years: choose a region, do several things there, and save another area for another day.

Otherwise, too much of the day can disappear in transit. Hearing that point applied to London makes me want to learn more about its different neighborhoods before deciding what a visit might look like.

The discussion of advance reservations brings up my road trips between Houston and San Francisco. I explain how my planning changed between those trips, including booking all the hotels in advance the second time. Restaurant reservations surprise me more, and I ask how far ahead a visitor would need to plan and what walk-in alternatives might be available.

Making a trip fit the time I can take off

I push back a little on the suggestion to wait before taking a day trip outside London. My question is practical: what if somebody only has about a week available?

In the video, I work through my own possible time off, including weekends and travel days. I can see why somebody with a short visit might want to fit in an excursion even while there is plenty left to explore in the city.

The biggest result of this reaction is a longer list of things I want to learn: which areas to explore, what food to try, and how to organize a visit around the time I would actually have.
